As a street photographer, I’m drawn to candid moments that tell unscripted stories. The bustling streets of Mumbai are my endless source of inspiration, offering vibrant life and fleeting emotions waiting to be captured. But in my pursuit of authentic moments, I’ve occasionally found myself wandering into someone else’s carefully curated story—pre-wedding shoots. These dreamy setups, with their golden-hour lighting, fairy lights, and romantically dressed couples, have an undeniable pull that sometimes leads to an accidental trespass.

The beauty of street photography lies in its unpredictability. While pre-wedding shoots are staged and planned, they often contain unguarded moments—the couple’s laughter, a stolen glance, or the way natural light bathes the scene. As someone who thrives on candid storytelling, I instinctively start clicking without realizing I’ve become part of someone’s private moment. It’s only when I notice the curious glances of the photographers or the elaborate decor that it dawns on me—I’ve unintentionally crossed into their frame.

Navigating such situations requires sensitivity and humility. A sincere apology paired with an offer to delete the photos often turns potential awkwardness into lighthearted exchanges. Surprisingly, many couples and their teams appreciate the fresh, candid perspective I bring, even if unplanned. These encounters, though unintentional, serve as a reminder of the thin line between public and private moments in open spaces and the need to approach such scenarios with respect.

These experiences have taught me invaluable lessons as a photographer. Observing my surroundings carefully, respecting the privacy of those creating memories, and embracing the unpredictability of my craft have become integral to my journey. Every accidental trespass reminds me that photography isn’t just about the images—it’s about the connections and stories that unfold along the way. For a street photographer, even the most unplanned encounters can lead to beautiful moments worth cherishing.
